1990
The start of greenhouse growing
In 1990, our young bunch of entrepreneurs had this novel idea to grow delicious and authentic tasting garden fruits and vegetables over the winter, in greenhouses.
2003
Installation of the first biomass heating system
Concerned with offering a superior quality product while respecting the environment, we installed the first forest biomass heating system, dedicated to greenhouse heating, in Quebec.
2010
Three new glass greenhouse complexes
The construction of three new glass greenhouses completely modernized the company. The integration of this cutting-edge technology allows us to manage the microclimates of our crops, all in real time. Thanks to this step forward, the business was able to fully secure a major foothold in the pink tomato market, across North America.
2017
Converting greenhouses for cannabis production
We were approached by Canopy Growth, Canada’s largest cannabis producer at the time, to convert our greenhouses to grow medicinal cannabis. With this bold project, we developed a totally new set of skills and expertise.

Acquisition of a greenhouse complex in Lanoraie
We acquired a greenhouse complex in Lanoraie, in in the Lanaudière region, to continue our tomato production.
2022
Acquisition of a greenhouse farm in the Saint-Janvier sector of Mirabel
Wanting to offer a wide range of fruits and vegetables to Quebecers, we acquired a greenhouse farm in the Saint-Janvier sector of Mirabel, With this new production centre, we were now able to grow radishes all year round – something never before seen in Quebec!
2023
Reconverting the Saint-Canut sector of Mirabel greenhouses for produce
As the cannabis production contract came to its end, Les Serres Bertand returns to growing fruits and vegetables. A new generation takes the company’s reins.
